ANN ARBOR, Mich., Aug. 17, 2011 — Robert McCurrach has joined the Automated Imaging Association (AIA) as director of standards development. He will work closely with Jeff Fryman, who has handled standards development for AIA and its sister trade group, Robotic Industries Association, for the past 15 years.

Standards play a key role in the vision and imaging industry, and the AIA has helped develop industry standards such as Camera Link, Camera Link HS and GigE Vision. Increased activity in this area led the organization to add a full-time dedicated staff person.

“(Bob) brings the right mix of technical savvy and experience to the association. We look forward to advancing our standards program to the next level and supporting this important component of the global vision industry,” said Jeff Burnstein, president of the AIA.

McCurrach has more than 25 years of experience in the manufacturing sector, with a focus on management in global engineering, strategic programs and processes, primarily for the nuclear, defense and automotive industries. He holds degrees from Lehigh University and Georgia Institute of Technology.
