Ocean Thin Films Expands
Ocean Thin Films of Largo, Fla., has
expanded its Golden, Colo., facility to advance its PixelTec patterned optical coating
technology. The precision optical coatings design company has added a class 1000
semiconductor-grade cleanroom outfitted with advanced patterning and alignment equipment,
and class 100 work areas. The facility is ITAR-registered and ISO 9001:2008-certified.
PixelTec optical coatings enable micron-scale patterning of multiple thin-film optical
coatings on a single substrate and are used for purpose-specific performance in
medical, defense and industrial applications.

Glossary
- optical coatings
- Optical coatings are thin layers of materials applied to optical components, such as lenses, mirrors, filters, and prisms, to modify their reflective and transmissive properties. These coatings are designed to enhance the performance of optical systems by controlling the way light interacts with the surfaces of the components.
The primary purposes of optical coatings include:
Antireflection coating: This type of coating is designed to reduce reflections from the surfaces of optical...
