NORTH SUTTON, N.H., Oct. 3, 2011 — Through its exclusive UK distributor, Pro-Lite Technology, Labsphere Inc. has supplied a custom 2-m integrating sphere system to lighting manufacturer Aurora Lighting of St. Albans, England, for use in its new light lab.

The system is equipped with a Labsphere spectroradiometer to provide precise LED measurement data, reporting lumen output, color temperature, chromatricity, color rendering index and binning accuracy.

The system was installed at Aurora’s Light Lab A.L.E.X 2.0 in Apex Park, Welwyn Garden City, England.

Labsphere, a Halma company, designs and manufactures precision radiometric and photometric test-and-measurement products that address the needs of the aerospace, electronic imaging, LED, lighting, medical imaging and optics industries.

Glossary
color rendering index
A CIE index describing the changes in color of standard test objects when the illumination is changed from a standard to a test illuminant.
light-emitting diode
An LED, or light emitting diode, is a semiconductor device that emits light when an electric current passes through it. LEDs are widely used in various applications due to their energy efficiency, compact size, and long operational life. The technology behind LEDs is based on the phenomenon of electroluminescence. Key characteristics and features of LEDs include: Electroluminescence: The process by which LEDs emit light is called electroluminescence. It involves the recombination of...
spectroradiometer
A spectroradiometer is a device used to measure the intensity of light at different wavelengths across the electromagnetic spectrum. It provides a detailed spectral distribution of light, breaking down the electromagnetic radiation into its constituent wavelengths. This device is particularly useful in applications where precise information about the spectral characteristics of light is essential, such as in the fields of optics, remote sensing, astronomy, colorimetry, and environmental...
