QD Vision Awarded Contract

Photonics Spectra
Oct 2011
QD Vision Inc. of Watertown, Mass., has been awarded a $900,000, 12-month R&D development contract from DARPA to advance its quantum dot-based infrared materials and to deliver two prototype devices: one with quantum dots as an emissive layer in an electronic device (electroluminescent applications) and the other in a film that is activated by external light sources (photoluminescent applications). A quantum dot product company, QD Vision delivers differentiated display and lighting solutions.

quantum dots
Also known as QDs. Nanocrystals of semiconductor materials that fluoresce when excited by external light sources, primarily in narrow visible and near-infrared regions; they are commonly used as alternatives to organic dyes.
