Hyperspectral imaging systems manufacturer Specim Spectral Imaging Ltd. announced that on Dec. 2 it will host a hands-on demonstration of its sisuRock model at its Finnish premises. SisuRock is a workstation for drill cores and other geological samples. It can acquire hyperspectral imaging data of a whole core box in less than 15 s and can recognize minerals that otherwise would be unnoticed or hard to distinguish. “We have found the mineralogical information that can be extracted from NIR hyperspectral core imagers to be invaluable,” said Dr. Paul Linton, chief spectral geologist at AngloGold Ashanti, who evaluated the system one year after it was purchased. “The hyperspectral data offer a complete, continuous data set and so form a reference layer for all other data, including geochemistry, geophysics and metallurgy.” For more information, visit: www.specim.com
