Faris Joins LightPath Board
M. Scott Faris was elected earlier this month to LightPath Technologies Inc.’s board of directors as a Class II member, the company announced.
Faris, who was also appointed a member of the audit committee, will serve for the remainder of the Class II term, which expires on the date of the company’s 2013 annual meeting of stockholders. He qualifies as an independent director.
An experienced entrepreneur, Faris has almost 20 years of operating, venture-financing and commercialization experience involving more than 20 startup and emerging-growth technology companies. Faris is the current founder and CEO of Planar Energy, a spinout of the US Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
LightPath Technologies manufactures optical products, including molded aspheric optics, proprietary collimator assemblies, and laser components that use proprietary automation technology for the industrial, defense, medical, test and measurement, and telecommunications markets.
