Newport's Ophir Acquisition Closes
Ophir Optronics Ltd. shareholders have approved the electro-optics systems maker’s acquisition by Newport Corp., and regulators have approved the $230 million deal. The Jerusalem-based Ophir makes photonics instrumentation and 3-D noncontact measurement systems. It will become the third division of Newport, joining Lasers, and Photonics and Precision Technologies. Newport supplies solutions based on its expertise in photonics technologies, including lasers, photonics instrumentation, submicron positioning systems, and optical components and subsystems.
