Zecotek Photonics Inc., based in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada, has achieved commercial production status with its advanced solid-state micropixel avalanche photodiode (MAPD) photodetectors, the MAPD-3N. Manufactured under a contract with the Malaysian Institute of Microelectronic Systems and Omega Semiconductor Sdn Bhd, they offer good photon detection efficiency and working gain and reduced dark count rates, making them suitable for PET medical scanners and gamma camera applications, particularly when combined with Zecotek’s LFS scintillation materials.
