Pacer to Distribute Optotune’s Lenses, Speckle Reducers

NEWBURY, England, March 27, 2012 — Optoelectronic components and assemblies supplier Pacer International has signed an agreement to distribute Zurich-based Optotune Inc.’s adaptive polymer-based optics, it announced recently. Optotune’s components can significantly reduce the size and complexity of optical systems used in imaging, lighting and laser delivery applications, the Swiss company says. It has developed a range of fast, electrically or manually tunable optical devices with soft polymer-based materials to overcome the limits of hard glass and plastic components. The variable-focus lenses and...Read full article

    machine vision
Machine vision, also known as computer vision or computer sight, refers to the technology that enables machines, typically computers, to interpret and understand visual information from the world, much like the human visual system. It involves the development and application of algorithms and systems that allow machines to acquire, process, analyze, and make decisions based on visual data. Key aspects of machine vision include: Image acquisition: Machine vision systems use various...
    ophthalmology
Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine that focuses on the anatomy, physiology, and diseases of the eyes and visual system. Ophthalmologists are medical doctors who specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of eye disorders and diseases. They are trained to provide comprehensive eye care, including medical, surgical, and optical interventions. Key areas within ophthalmology include: General eye care: Ophthalmologists perform routine eye examinations to assess visual acuity,...
    photonics
The technology of generating and harnessing light and other forms of radiant energy whose quantum unit is the photon. The science includes light emission, transmission, deflection, amplification and detection by optical components and instruments, lasers and other light sources, fiber optics, electro-optical instrumentation, related hardware and electronics, and sophisticated systems. The range of applications of photonics extends from energy generation to detection to communications and...
