GEEL, Belgium, April 5, 2012 — To support its growth into Europe and North America, fiber Bragg gratings manufacturer FBGS has appointed Nick Plescia and David Johnson to coordinate and support commercial activities in these regions.

Plescia, an established fiber optic specialist, is the new North American sales contact for FBGS. He is based in Montreal.

Johnson joins the company as its European sales contact. With experience in the test and measurement industry, he worked previously in marketing and sales roles with traditional sensor technologies in South Africa and the UK, where he was responsible for establishing routes to market and introducing new sensor technologies.

“This is a particularly exciting time for our company as the unique strengths of our draw tower gratings are helping our customers develop solutions for many challenging sensing applications,” said Hugo Mertens, CEO of FBGS. “The appointment of new staff in these territories represents a critical milestone for the company and the technology, as we continue to respond proactively to customer inquiries the world over.”
