Nanosolar Inc. has hired three new executives to lead its thin-film solar cells and panels sales and marketing initiatives in the US, Europe, Asia and beyond, it announced. Stephan Hansen was appointed executive vice president of worldwide sales. Prior to joining the company, he led the European sales organization of First Solar for more than seven years. Before that, he spent five years in the US working as the general manager of an R&D venture. He has also held photovoltaic industry positions at Schott Applied Power and RWE Schott Solar Holding America. Roy Shaw, the new head of North America sales, brings to NanoSolar more than 25 years of sales management experience in the solar, construction and building products industries. Before joining the company, Shaw served as director of USA sales at Jinko Solar. Before that, he worked for Suntech Solar Corp., Otis Elevator Co. and Steelcase Corp. The new vice president of worldwide marketing, Stefan Zschiegner has more than 20 years of management experience. He previously served as vice president of global product management and applications at First Solar. Before that he held numerous management positions at FormFactor Inc., Hewlett-Packard and Agilent Technologies. “While other companies are constricting, Nanosolar is growing,” said Eugenia Corrales, CEO of Nanosolar. “We are actively hiring in all functions globally and have expanded our German workforce by over 17 percent since October 2011.
