Applications for the Erlangen Innovation Award Optical Technologies are now being accepted by the Association for the Promotion of Laser Technology at Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, it said.

The €3000 (about $4652) prize is directed at researchers and developers with innovative laser science and engineering ideas in the form of new products, processes, patents or inventions.

To apply, submit proposals by email to the Lane Conference Office ([email protected]). They should be a maximum of five pages and should describe clearly the innovativeness of the work and include detailed curriculum vitae. Both must be written in English.

The closing date is Aug. 3, 2012.

The prize winner will be honored at a ceremony during the opening plenary session of LANE 2012 on Nov. 13 in Fürth, where he or she will also have the chance to present the winning work.
