Abbott Laboratories of Abbott Park, Ill., has announced that its iFS advanced femtosecond laser has received FDA clearance for use in corneal and cataract surgeries to create bow-shaped or curved arcuate incisions. The fifth generation of IntraLase technology, iFS laser is currently used to create lasik flaps and other corneal incisions.
