SPARTANBURG, S.C., and SÃO PAULO, Brazil, Aug. 15, 2012 — In response to the rapid growth in fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) applications in Brazil, AFL has launched its own office and technology consultant.

Tony Medeiros will represent the company throughout the region from his head office in São Paulo. He brings more than 25 years of hands-on fiber optics experience to the role. He has also served as a consultant to the Department of Defense and the US Army’s 571st Signal Brigade for KOTNET operations in South Korea.

As part of the launch, AFL is hosting complimentary FTTH fiber optic technology seminars. Topics include the following: network topologies, an overview of how FTTH is being implemented in the US, a preview of certified fiber-to-the-home planner prerequisite material, and the latest technologies in testing networks and systems.

AFL provides fiber optic cable, transmission and substation accessories, outside plant equipment, connectors, fusion splicers and test equipment as well as training to the electric utility, broadband, communications, OEM, enterprise, wireless and transit rail markets.
