Avago, Corning Develop Optical Connectivity Solutions

SAN JOSE, Calif., and SINGAPORE, March 11, 2013 — Avago Technologies and Corning Inc. have collaborated on the development of optical cabling connectivity solutions targeting next-generation networks and data centers.

Fiber optic components provider Avago Technologies has developed a series of pluggable transceivers and Atlas optical engines at 40G/100G and beyond, suitable for Ethernet, Storage and high-performance computing applications.

Enabled by proprietary ClearCurve OM4 optical fiber and Pretium Edge solutions, Corning’s new high-bandwidth optical solution is suitable for applications at 40G/100G and beyond.

By combining the companies’ technologies, “we are able to allow our customers greater flexibility in solving the challenges of the data center environment,” said Steve Shultis, director of product marketing at Avago Technologies.

Avago will give private demonstrations of its new single-mode and multimode optics transceivers and embedded optics using Corning’s optical connectivity solutions March 19-21 at OFC/NFOEC 2013 in Anaheim.
