Neaspec Now Part of Attocube Systems

Attocube Systems AG has acquired Neaspec GmbH, combining two well-established innovators in the fields of nanotechnology and microscopy.

The purchase includes Neaspec’s scanning near-field optical microscope (NeaSNOM), the only such device to use an optical background-filtering technique. This will expand attocube’s microscopy portfolio and techniques used in nanotechnology.

“Neaspec is the perfect partner for attocube,” said Khaled Karraï, founder and scientific director of attocube. The award-winning NeaSNOM… is the ideal base for benefiting from emerging technological and personnel synergies.”

Both companies are spinoffs from research institutes, attocube via CeNS (Center for NanoScience) at Ludwig-Maximilian University, and Neaspec at Max Planck Institute.

nano
An SI prefix meaning one billionth (10-9). Nano can also be used to indicate the study of atoms, molecules and other structures and particles on the nanometer scale.
