Sydor Instruments Acquires Sabre Ballistics

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Aug. 15, 2014 — Sydor Instruments LLC has acquired test equipment firm Sabre Ballistics of Caterham, England. The transaction cost was not disclosed.

Sydor said the acquisition will increase its revenues by 50 percent, double its worldwide customer base and allow it to offer comprehensive ballistics testing systems.

Michael Pavia, president of Sydor Instruments, will take on the role of managing director of Sabre Ballistics. Sabre's former managing director David Balfour will become U.K. operations executive, and Dr. Martyn Eccles, Sabre’s former technical director, will become U.K. engineering manager.

“The acquisition of Sabre Ballistics significantly expands our international footprint to 33 countries around the world,” Pavia said. “We will continue to offer SABRE’s comprehensive portfolio of more than 60 products along with complete design, installation and training services.”

Sydor Instruments provides custom diagnostics and ultrafast imaging systems for science and industry, specializing in streak cameras and single-photon detectors.
