Temporal shaping will play a significant role in the emerging femto revolution, especially for futuristic biomedical applications. Thanks to advances in ultrafast laser design, ultrafast laser sources have emerged from the laboratory and are now used for commercial applications ranging from ophthalmic surgical procedures such as lasik to cutting sapphire wafers.
