Laser Additive Manufacturing Hub to Open in Singapore

SINGAPORE, Nov. 24, 2014 — A new 3-D printing center will provide various laser-based additive manufacturing services for various industries.

Ultra Clean Holdings Inc. of Hayward, Calif., plans to open the center in the first quarter of 2015 after acquiring the privately held Prototype Asia LLC.

The center will support stereolithography, selective laser sintering, direct metal laser sintering, fused deposition modeling and wax jetting. It will focus on parts optimization and re-engineering for weight reduction and material savings, as well as virtual warehousing and on-demand part printing for spare, rare and obsolete parts.

Ultra Clean Holdings CEO Clarence Granger said the new center will have limited impact on the company’s 2015 financial results but will help expand its market reach.

Ultra Clean Holdings develops systems and subsystems for the semiconductor capital equipment, flat-panel, medical, energy and research industries.

3d printing
3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing (AM), is a manufacturing process that builds three-dimensional objects layer by layer from a digital model. This technology allows the creation of complex and customized structures that would be challenging or impossible with traditional manufacturing methods. The process typically involves the following key steps: Digital design: A three-dimensional digital model of the object is created using computer-aided design (CAD) software. This...

Additive manufacturing (AM), also known as 3D printing, is a manufacturing process that involves creating three-dimensional objects by adding material layer by layer. This is in contrast to traditional manufacturing methods, which often involve subtracting or forming materials to achieve the desired shape. In additive manufacturing, a digital model of the object is created using computer-aided design (CAD) software, and this digital model is then sliced into thin cross-sectional layers. The...
