Heliatek GmbH, a developer of photovoltaic thin films, received the 2015 Renewable Energy Design Award at the Elektra European Electronics Industry Awards. The Dresden-based startup develops and produces the HeliaFilm flexible, organic solar film. Its organic photovoltaics feature 12 percent efficiency and are now being commercialized for large-area applications. Heliatek has also partnered with industrial glass and building materials companies to speed the adoption of its technology in sustainable, net-zero energy buildings. Its products were included in glass installations in the Belgium pavilion at Expo Milan 2015. The Elektra European Electronics Industry Awards are the largest technology and business awards in the European electronics industry.
