DJI has partnered with Flir Systems Inc. of Wilsonville, Ore., to develop unmanned aerial vehicle technology, starting with the aerial thermal-imaging camera Zenmuse XT, for industrial applications. The Zenmuse XT will integrate a Flir thermal imager — which yields resolutions up to 640 × 512 — with DJI's gimbal-stabilization and Lightbridge video-transmission technology. Using the same gimbal mount as DJI's Zenmuse cameras for filmmaking, the Zenmuse XT will be compatible with the DJI Inspire 1 and Matrice M100 aerial platforms. Combining DJI's aerial platforms and Flir's thermal-imaging technology expands the uses of aerial systems to provide different types of sensory data essential for firefighting, agriculture and inspection, among other applications, the companies said.
