Optical transmission equipment manufacturer Infinera Corp. has added John P. Daane to its board of directors. Daane previously served as the president and CEO of Altera Corp., a semiconductor developer, from 2000 up until its acquisition by Intel Corp. in 2015. Daane also served as chairman of Altera’s board of directors for 12 years. Prior to joining Altera, Daane spent 15 years at LSI Logic Corp., another semiconductor developer, where he began his work as an engineering intern and ended as the executive vice president of its communications products division. Daane also served on the Semiconductor Industry Association’s board of directors from 2003 to 2015. Infinera cites Daane’s experience in high-performance programmable networking components and ecosystems for data centers and cloud architectures as instrumental in its expansion goals. Infinera provides intelligent transport networks, enabling carriers, cloud operators, governments and enterprises to scale network bandwidth, accelerate service innovation and simplify optical network operations. Its end-to-end packet-optical portfolio is designed for long-haul, subsea, data center interconnect and metro applications, with unique large scale photonic integrated circuits that enable innovative optical networking solutions for demanding networks.
