iView, Forth Dimension Displays Collaborate for SLPs

DALGETY BAY, Scotland, Aug. 30, 2016 — Pico projection optical module provider iView Ltd. and microdisplay developer Forth Dimension Displays Ltd. have entered into an agreement to develop, manufacture and sell structured light projectors (SLPs). SLPs are a key component of 3D automated in-line optical inspection (3D AOI), equipment that is rapidly replacing 2D AOI in printed circuit board (PCB) manufacture. The ability to use 3D AOI to measure components in all three dimensions, on every PCB in real time, enables companies to improve yields and product quality while reducing wastage and costs. "3D scanning using...Read full article

    spatial light modulator
A spatial light modulator (SLM) is an optical device that modulates or manipulates the amplitude, phase, or polarization of light in two dimensions, typically in the form of an array. SLMs are versatile tools used in various optical applications, including adaptive optics, optical signal processing, holography, and imaging. There are different types of SLMs, each with its own operating principle: Liquid crystal spatial light modulators (LC-SLM): These SLMs use liquid crystal technology to...
