Vectronix, Optics 1 Merge, Receive Army Contract

BEDFORD, N.H. — Electro-optical systems developer Vectronix Inc. has merged with its optical systems subsidiary Optics 1 Inc. to form Safran Optics 1 Inc. and has subsequently received a $304 million U.S. Army contract for a laser designation system.

The multi-year contract will provide the Laser Target Locator Module II, a high-tech, handheld laser target locator with a GPS receiver.

Vectronix is a developer of integrated handheld, module and precision systems for observation, detection, location and targeting solutions. Optics 1 provides lens design, optical engineering and optical design services from prototype through production. Safran Optics is an electro-optical systems developer.
