Nominate Someone You Know Who Is an Industry Advocate

PITTSFIELD, Mass., June 12, 2017 — Photonics has come a long way since the world’s first laser was introduced in 1960. Today, photonics impacts a range of disciplines as varied as ophthalmology to aerospace, and encompasses an ever-expanding set of technologies. Behind most of these applications and technologies is an industry advocate — someone who has championed emerging technologies with passion and perseverance, advancing awareness of photonics and broadening its reach.

You can honor the hard work of your favorite Industry Advocate by nominating him or her for a 2017 Industry Beacon award.

Industry Beacon award lighthouseIndustry Advocate, a new Industry Beacon category this year, aims to recognize those photonics and optics professionals who have helped shape the trends that have brought the industry to where it is today and who will influence its future direction. From biophotonics methods for diagnosing disease to smart vision systems for managing security and surveillance, their efforts have helped gain acceptance for photonics technologies.

Industry advocates benefit people, businesses and institutions, and they deserve recognition for the important role they play in moving the photonics industry forward. If you know someone who has contributed to the industry as an advocate, please take a few minutes to nominate him or her for an Industry Beacon award.
