Polymer optics manufacturer Syntec Optics Inc. has successfully consolidated its three different operations and plans to acquire additional optics technologies.

"Syntec Optics has always kept an eye on the future," said Al Kapoor, founder of Syntec Optics. "This is the proven recipe to create new jobs. Over the past two decades, Syntec enabled the smallest fingerprint device and then the first optics-based diagnostics for detection of disease. Now, it is positioned to enable the first light-weight and low-cost precision optics for medical scopes, augmented reality, driverless cars, smart sensors and much more."

The company has created more than 100 new jobs in one year since it began its relocation and consolidation.

Syntec Optics is a polymer optics assembly and optomechanical component provider. It has successfully consolidated optical coating, optics tooling, optics prototyping, optics molding, optics mechanicals and optics assembly operations in Rochester.

Polymers are large molecules composed of repeating structural units called monomers. These monomers are chemically bonded together to form long chains or networks, creating a macromolecular structure. The process of linking monomers together is known as polymerization. Polymers can be classified into several categories based on their structure, properties, and mode of synthesis. Some common types of polymers include: Synthetic polymers: These are human-made polymers produced through...
