WARWICK, R.I., June 15 -- Infinite Group's Mound Laser and Photonics Center Inc. (MLPC), in Miamisburg, Ohio, has been awarded a $100,000 contract to work on the laser deposition of high temperature superconductors. The award is part of the US Air Force Research Laboratory's (AFRL) Phase 1 Small Business Innovative Research contract. The MLPC is a member of Infinite's Laser and Photonics Group.
We are pleased to be working with the team at AFRL's Materials and Manufacturing Directorate on this exciting effort, said Larry Dosser, President of MLPC.
Steven R. LeClair, chief of the Materials Process Design Branch within AFRL's Materials and Manufacturing Directorate said: AFRL/ML possesses novel YBCO process technology and we have developed complementary substrate preparation technology. Scale-up to long lengths remains the principal challenge, but it is clear that we will have a leadership position in this emerging superconductor manufacturing technology.
