Daily News Briefs
Coherent Inc., Semiconductor Division has expanded its existing family of aluminum-free NIR (790 to 813 nm) OEM components with a new diode laser that the company says is ideal for integration into a host of direct diode themal medical and industrial applications.
PacketLight Networks will officially introduce the industry's first all-packet multiple-service optical transport system for the metro that puts FibreChannel, Gigabit Ethernet and SONET over a single wavelength at Supercomm 2001 (Booth # 4948) in Atlanta, Georgia June 3-7.
Lynx Photonic Networks, developer of patented planar lightwave circuit photonic switches and subsystems, will demonstrate their new Photon.16x16a photonic switch module at the Supercomm 2001 trade show in Atlanta. The module's key features include strictly nonblocking operation, a switching time of less than 2 ms, dynamic power control and weighted multicasting. The strictly nonblocking operation enables the light to be channeled from any input port to any output port, a critical element for dynamic connectivity.
