SOUTH PLAINFIELD, N.J., May 23 -- Multiplex Inc., a vertically integrated manufacturer of high-end optoelectronic components and subsystems, announced its MTR10G OC192 transponder has been accepted into the Multi Source Agreement (MSA), with Infineon Technologies, JDS Uniphase, LightLogic, and Nortel Networks. Companies who enter into this agreement must meet and comply with the standards set forth to ensure the suppliers of fiber optic transponder modules meet uniform package specifications.
Multiplex's MTR10G is the first transponder to meet the MSA's small-form-factor packaging specifications for intermediate reach (IR2) metro and long-haul applications. The MTR10G offers the small-form-factor size of 2.03" x 3.01" x 0.56", which is a fraction of the size of many of the transponders currently on the market. The MTR10G is applicable for distances up to 60 kilometers.
"Having a set of uniform specifications for optoelectronic components is good for the industry", said Won T. Tsang, president and CEO of Multiplex. "I am extremely proud that Multiplex's transponder is the first of its kind to meet MSA guidelines for intermediate and long-reach applications."
