Infrared Imaging Collaboration Grows US Market

A collaboration between American IR Solutions (AIRS) and AIM Infrarot-Module will expand IR imaging solutions across the US market.

AIRS plans to increase its capabilities to market, design, integrate and support AIM components and products to meet a variety of thermal imaging needs. It will draw from AIM’s long-established customer base — the company has been developing, manufacturing and distributing IR detectors, thermal sights and cooling engines for more than 30 years.

AIRS also will enable product customization to meet end-user requirements.

Since opening in 2012, AIRS has developed a high-performance Nyx line of imaging products based on T2SLS (Type 2 strained layer superlattice) technology. The company focuses on new technology, enabling low-cost product design, integration and lifecycle support, as well as applications requiring high-performance cryogenically cooled longwave IR (LWIR) and midwave IR (MWIR) IR focal plane array (IRFPA) technologies.

“The integration of AIM’s MCT FPAs and subsystems, along with our existing T2SLS FPA-based products, will enable AIRS to offer a broader solution set,” said Dan Manitakos, president of AIRS.

Both companies expect the collaboration will help develop solutions for filling product and technology gaps that currently exist in the IR market.
