APW Dental Imaging has changed its name to i-dontics to reflect its expansion into dental imaging, into the Internet and into information processing. The company pioneered the use of a high-resolution, low x-ray emission 3-D imaging tool for dental applications. It also developed a network of dental CT scanning centers, connected via high-speed communications links, enabling the transport of dental images to and from its headquarters in New York for processing and analysis to determine the accurate placement of dental implants.
