High-speed interconnect provider Molex Inc. of Lisle, Ill., has completed the acquisition of Luxtera Inc.’s Active Optical Cable business, including its Blazar and other derivative optical transceiver products. Luxtera, of Carlsbad, Calif., a silicon CMOS photonics provider, will transfer all aspects of its existing and future optical cable business to Molex, including current QSFP+ (quad small form factor pluggable) 40-Gb/s Ethernet and InfiniBand products and customers. The acquisition will immediately add QSFP active optical cables to Molex’s portfolio of active optical connectivity products. It also will include an exclusive agreement for Luxtera to develop and supply advanced chip sets for future Molex products that are based on Luxtera’s silicon photonics technology.
