COLLEGE PARK, Md., May 7, 2025 — IonQ named Jordan Shapiro president and general manager of quantum networking. Shapiro previously served as IonQ’s vice president of financial planning and analysis, corporate development, and investor relations. He joined IonQ’s executive team in 2020 after working with the company as a venture capitalist.

CORNING, N.Y — Corning Incorporated appointed Avery Nelson III COO, Lewis Steverson vice chairman, and John Zhang chief corporate development officer, following president and COO Eric Musser’s decision to retire. Nelson joined Corning in 1991 and has held a series of key management positions in the company’s display and automotive market-access platforms. Steverson will continue to also hold the role of executive vice president and chief legal and administrative officer, previously joining the company as senior vice president and general counsel in 2013. Zhang, who has held top positions in strategy and corporate development at corning, will continue to lead global operations for Corning’s display and mobile consumer electronics market-access platforms and will also assume leadership of the life sciences market-access platform.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Aeva, a sensing and perception systems developer, appointed Daniel Gibson to its board of directors. Gibson is the founder, chief investment officer, and managing partner of Sylebra Capital Management.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. — Laser cutting devices developer Eagle Lasers named Dan Cortez executive vice president and COO of its U.S. subsidiary, Eagle Americas. Cortez has more than 20 years of experience in manufacturing and machine tool leadership, having previously held global leadership positions for major international equipment manufacturers.

PLEASANTON, Calif. — AEye, Inc., a lidar solutions company, appointed Doron Simon to its board of directors. Simon is the founder of DSimonSays Inc, as well as the current managing director at Stanton Park Capital and a partner at Transformation Equity Partners. He previously served in executive roles at Otonomo Technologies, NICE Systems Ltd., and Tower Semiconductor Ltd.

WILSONVILLE, Ore. — DWFritz Automation, a provider of metrology and inspection solutions, named Brent Barcey vice president and general manager of advanced manufacturing solutions. He will develop and execute DWFritz Automation’s go-to-market strategy for build-to-print solutions. Bringing over 25 years of leadership experience in robotics, logistics, fulfillment, business development, automation, and material handling, Barcey served as senior vice president of corporate development at Osaro, vice president of sales and business development at Plus One Robotics, and executive director of global sales at FANUC America Corporation.
