Affymetrix Inc. of Santa Clara, Calif., has granted Tessarae Inc. of McLean, Va., nonexclusive access to its microarray technology. The TessArray kits incorporate Affymetrix CustomSeq resequencing arrays and can detect and identify strains of viral and bacterial pathogens associated with upper respiratory diseases on the basis of target genome sequences. The epidemiological tests are intended primarily for public health and bioterrorism surveillance applications.
