Alain Couder Named Bookham President and CEO
Bookham Inc., a provider of optical components, modules and subsystems, today announced the appointment of Alain Couder as president and CEO, effective Aug. 13. Couder replaces acting president and CEO Peter Bordui, who will remain as chairman of Bookham's board of directors. The company said it expects Couder, who will be based at its San Jose, Calif., headquarters, to also be elected to the board. Couder was most recently president and CEO of Solid Information Technology Inc., a supplier of database solutions. Before that, he served as president and CEO of Confluent Software Inc., and IP Dynamics Inc., and as chairman and CEO of Packard Bell NEC Inc. Couder has also served as chief operating officer for both Agilent Technologies and Groupe Bull. Earlier in his career, he held a series of general and technology management positions at Hewlett Packard and IBM and also served as an advisor for Sofinnova Ventures, a venture capital firm.
