Autonomous Laser Platform Developer Aurelius Systems Raises $10M
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 4, 2025 — Aurelius Systems, a defense technology company developing autonomous laser system technology to neutralize drone threats, closed a $10 million seed round. The funding will enable Aurelius to scale operations and accelerate development of its laser platform, designed to safeguard critical infrastructure and frontline forces from unmanned aerial system (UAS) threats.
Aurelius' low-cost laser system, operating at a fraction of a dollar per shot, according to the company, is fully autonomous and identifies, tracks, and eliminates drones in real time. Early field demonstrations have shown successful engagement and elimination of Group 1 and Group 2 drones in varied conditions. The system is designed to be plug-and-play, making it compatible with both mobile platforms and fixed defensive positions.
In its announcement, Aurelius said that the U.S. government recently allocated nearly $1.3 billion for counter-UAS systems and established a Joint Interagency Task Force to accelerate deployment of reliable, field-ready solutions. The company added that the funding comes amid increasing volume, intelligence, speed, and lethality of small UAS threats, particularly Group 1 and Group 2 drones deployed deployed at scale by both militaries and irregular forces.
