Avo Photonics Names New Chief Technology Officer

Avo Photonics of Horsham, Pa., a provider of optical and radio frequency packaging solutions, recently appointed Tom Haslett as chief technology officer (CTO). Haslett brings more than 20 years of experience in a wide range of optical technologies and applications to his new position and most recently served as CTO of Photonami, developing novel semiconductor laser technology, optical amplifiers and other active optical components. Prior to Photonami, he was director of the Photonics Research Facility at Photonics Research Ontario, where he worked on spectroscopic instruments, fiber Bragg grating design and fabrication, holography and sensor applications.

The optical recording of the object wave formed by the resulting interference pattern of two mutually coherent component light beams. In the holographic process, a coherent beam first is split into two component beams, one of which irradiates the object, the second of which irradiates a recording medium.
