Axsun Announces Laser System Delivery Milestone

BILLERICA, Mass., July 27, 2018 — Optical coherence tomography (OCT) engine manufacturer Axsun Technologies Inc. has shipped more than 15,000 swept lasers for OCT imaging applications.

“Axsun’s lasers for OCT imaging enable the highest-performance systems in ophthalmology, vascular [applications], and other medical and industrial imaging applications,” said Jonathan Hartmann, CEO of Axsun. “This significant milestone in our company’s history is a testament to Axsun’s technology leadership, the scalability of our manufacturing platform, and our incredible team. It is also an exciting milestone for our customers and the patients they serve with this leading-edge medical imaging technology.”

Axsun Technologies is a developer of MEMS-based optical engines for medical imaging, industrial spectroscopy, and optical telecommunications applications.

“Manufacturing scalability is a core strength of the Axsun packaging platform and for the company, in general, something that was a key focus from the very beginning,” said Peter Whitney, founder and chief science officer of Axsun. “We are thrilled to have achieved this shipment milestone and look forward to further growth and cooperation with our world-class customers in the years to come.”

Axsun Technologies says that it will continue to expand their portfolio of swept laser engines.
