Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. of Irvine, Calif., a provider of semiconductor, telecommunication, digital media and digital convergence technologies, today named Chris Franey as vice president of commercial sales for Samsung's Information Technology Div. Franey has more than 25 years of experience in technology sales, marketing and general management in domestic and international markets. He was formally president of ViewSonic Americas and also held numerous sales positions within the company. Prior to ViewSonic, Franey worked at computer peripherals manufacturer Kurta Corp. and served as senior regional manager at Moore Corp. Franey takes over as vice president of commercial sales from John Johasky, who had been working in that capacity and as vice president of marketing for the division since October 2005. With Franey's appointment, Johasky will solely oversee the division's marketing efforts, Samsung said.
