Coherent Announces Changes in Leadership

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 6, 2020 — Coherent announced a number of updates to its senior leadership team. Mark Sobey, executive vice president and chief operating officer, will oversee the company’s industrial lasers and solutions (ILS) and OEM laser source businesses, in light of the retirement of Thomas Merk, executive vice president, ILS. Merk joined the company in 2016 with the acquisition of Rofin-Sinar, where he had served as CEO.

David Gee has been appointed as senior vice president and chief marketing officer. Gee previously held senior marketing positions at Imperva, Zuora, Infoblox, Hewlett-Packard, Yahoo!, Sun Microsystems, and IBM.
