Elbit Systems of America (ESA) LLC and Laser Light Engines (LLE) Inc. have partnered to manufacture a high-power green laser module for digital projection systems.

Until now, illumination for digital projectors has been delivered by 50-year-old technology: high-pressure xenon gas discharge lamps that are costly and do not provide consistent, controllable light. The new LLE DSG-265 solid-state despeckled laser can be incorporated into a complete RGB laser illumination system with a digitally controllable light source that produces brighter and sharper images with less energy use and at lower cost.

“With ESA's high-volume, precision manufacturing capabilities supporting us, we are well positioned to meet the growing demand for laser illumination systems for 2-D and 3-D digital cinema, digital signage and other laser illumination applications worldwide," said Bill Beck, founder and executive vice president of business development at Laser Light Engines.

ESA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Elbit Systems Ltd., provides products and systems for the commercial aviation, defense, homeland security and medical instrumentation markets.
