ATLANTA, Dec. 10, 2013 — Silicon-to-photonics router company Compass-EOS has joined the Georgia Technology Center (GTC), a live laboratory for network equipment vendors to demonstrate their hardware and software, the center announced Tuesday.

GTC is located in parent company Colo Atl's Atlanta facility, which is also home to the Southeast Network Access Point (SNAP), a software-defined networking (SDN)-based Internet exchange that enables network equipment vendors to interoperate and test SDN traffic across multiple vendors' equipment. The Compass-EOS r10004 router will be located at the facility; the high-capacity router simplifies the deployment, operation and scaling of service provider networks, Compass-EOS said.

The r10004 router is a finalist for a 2014 Prism Award for photonics innovation from SPIE and Photonics Media, in the Optics and Optical Components category.

"The Compass-EOS r10004 is a technological game-changer; there is no question about that," said Tim Kiser, Colo Atl owner and founder. "Compass-EOS' icPhotonics optical interconnect fundamentally changes the way routers are built and how peering services are delivered. The company represents the technological advances that make GTC members among the most innovative in the industry. We are thrilled to welcome Compass-EOS to the Georgia Technology Center."
