Corning Inc. recently announced the appointment of four senior vice presidents: Richard J. Fishburn, Information Technology Division; William Plerhoples, Manufacturing Technology & Engineering; Mark S. Rogus, Finance; and Steven P. Suttle, Environmental Technologies. Fishburn was also appointed as Corning's chief information officer.   . . .    Edward H. Braun, chairman and CEO of Veeco Instruments Inc., received the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) fifth annual Bob Graham Award for outstanding contributions in semiconductor equipment and materials marketing. The award was presented at the SEMI Industry Strategy Symposium, held Monday in Pebble Beach, Calif. Braun was recognized for developing products and alliances across multiple markets, which helped offset high R&D costs for specific technologies and minimized the effects of the silicon cycles on small semiconductor equipment companies. Veeco, based in Woodbury, N.Y., provides metrology and process equipment systems for the semiconductor, data storage, telecom/wireless and scientific/research markets.
