Bookham Technology, a UK-based provider of optical and radio frequency components, modules and subsystems, announced it has appointed Conrad Burke as senior vice president of its worldwide sales organization. Burke was most recently a partner at Sevin Rosen Funds, a venture capital firm based in Palo Alto, Calif., and Dallas, Texas. Prior to that, he worked for 15 years in engineering and marketing with firms including NEC, AT&T, Lucent Technologies and OMM, a startup company developing optical switching subsystems.   . . .   Medical device developer Ci-Tec UK Ltd., a London-based subsidiary of consulting firm MBG Technologies Inc., of Newport Beach, Calif., announced it has received CE medical approval for its noncoherent photodynamic therapy (PDT) activation device, the LumaCare LC-122M. MBG Technologies recently received a US patent for the LumaCare technology. PDT treatment involves applying photosensitive drugs on the skin or through the bloodstream, after which drugs may be selectively activated via specific light frequencies.   . . .   Flir Systems Inc., a Portland, Ore., developer of infrared (IR) imaging systems, announced it has received a $7.2 million order from Northrop Grumman Corp. for its ThermoVision Sentry IR camera systems. The cameras will be used for perimeter security around US airbases under the US Air Force tactical automated security system program, for which Northrop Grumman is the prime contractor. The ThermoVision Sentry is an uncooled, dual-field-of-view IR camera system with a built-in, high-accuracy pan/tilt mechanism designed specifically for perimeter security and surveillance applications. Deliveries will begin immediately.
