Janos Technology Inc., a Townshend, Vt., maker of infrared optical components and assemblies, announced it is expanding its capabilities in coatings, diamond-turning, custom lens generating and automated polishing with a new five-axis generating machine, additional centering and diamond turning machines, and new automated polishing capabilities for plano, spherical and aspherical surfaces. Janos products include imaging lens assemblies in MWIR and LWIR (mid-wave and long-wave infrared), complex collimators and missile seeker head optical components and assemblies for the defense, security/surveillance, commercial and research markets.. . .Ultratech Inc., a supplier of photolithography systems used to manufacture semiconductors and nanotechnology devices, announced today it has appointed Kosei Nomiya chairman of Ultratech Japan KK. Nomiya has 36 years experience in the semiconductor industry, and has held several executive positions at Hitachi Semiconductor, including general manager and CEO. Most recently, he was CEO of the semiconductor equipment business group of Kokusai Electric, a subsidiary of Hitachi.
