Bruce Nonnemaker has joined NanoOpto Corp., a Somerset, N.J., developer of nanofabrication technology to produce optical components and systems, as vice president of manufacturing and operations. Nonnemaker was formerly an executive vice president at Emcore, where he was responsible for a $60-million equipment and materials business. His previous positions included vice president of operations at Alpha Industries, general manager for IBM worldwide accounts at KLA Instruments Corp. and vice president of worldwide semiconductor manufacturing at Digital Equipment Corp.    . . .    CRL Opto Ltd., a Fife, Scotland-based supplier of high-resolution ferroelectric liquid-crystal-on-silicon microdisplays and microdisplay-based products, said several of its customers participated in the annual Interservice Training Simulation Education Conference (I/ITSEC) last month in Orlando, Fla., where they demonstrated its high-resolution 0.9-inch diagonal SXGA (1280x1024) microdisplay in a variety of applications. L-3 Training used full-color imagery from CRL Opto's digital microdisplay to provide 360-degree vision in its advanced helmet-mounted display, demonstrated in an F-16 simulator and a training suite. NVis Inc. showed the nVisor SX and nVisor ST at Atlantis Cyberpace, Carmel Applied Technologies Inc. and TNO Physics and Electronics Laboratory booths. The NVis Virtual Binocular SX was shown at the WorldViz and InterSense booths; the Kaiser ProView SR80 and a helmet-detachable system prototype were also part of the show. The Saab AddVisora 150 high-performance head-mounted display was available at the CRL Opto/Brimar booth. Fidelity Technologies Corp. showed its simulated laser range finder at the US Army booth, and Davin Optronics presented full-color imagery on its monocular viewer at the DT Media booth. Both Fidelity Technologies and Davin Optronics use CRL Opto's microdisplays. The I/ITSEC promotes cooperation among the armed services, industry, academia and various government agencies in pursuit of improved training and education programs.
