Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe announced it has acquired a license to use Robert Bosch GmbH's FlexRay communication controller IP-module, which it will embed into its automotive control microcontroller units (MCUs). Fujitsu offers MCUs for various automotive control applications, including body and comfort electronics, climate control, dashboards, navigation, safety and sensor electronics, power-train and chassis electronics.    . . .    Kopin Corp., a Taunton, Mass., maker of telecommunications and digital imaging technologies such as microdisplays, was awarded two US patents for its advanced GaAsInN HBT transistor wafer technology, intended to be used in mobile wireless applications, including cell phone, Wi-Fi and Wi-MAX products. The patents involved the baseline so-called GAIN-HBT wafer and an enhanced transistor composed of graded compositions of its four constituent elements -- gallium, arsenic, indium and nitrogen. Kopin engineered the GAIN-HBT structure by introducing indium and nitrogen into the 50-nanometer base layer of a gallium arsenide device wafer. Kopin also announced that Shenzhen Oriscape Electronic Co. Ltd., of China, has incorporated its CyberDisplay 922k color filter VGA display into its CyberMan video eyewear line. The lightweight, portable CyberMan creates a "private cinema" experience, Kopin said, and provides a virtual image equivalent to a 54-inch flat-panel screen viewed from nine feet, with stereo sound.
