Acacia Patent Acquisition Corp. of Newport Beach, Calif., announced it has acquired the rights to patents relating to high-resolution optics used by the military in imaging systems such as thermal weapon sites and in commercial products like camera lenses and optical printers. The company is part of the Acacia Technologies Group.    . . .    Cypress Semiconductor Corp. has opened a regional chip design center in Shanghai for integrated circuit (IC) design and sales support. It said it expects to hire as many as 50 local employees at the new facility in the next two years. The company, makes consumer, computation and networking IC products including PC clock chips, CMOS image sensors, memories, embedded controller technologies and USB devices, also runs design centers in India, an assembly and test facility outside Manila and an operations center in Hong Kong. The Shanghai center will design a variety of products for local markets.    . . .    Orlando, Fla.-based Super Vision International Inc., a manufacturer of fiber optic and LED lighting, has appointed Mike Bauer as president and CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2006. Bauer has served as the company's vice president of sales and marketing for the past year. Current President and CEO Brett Kingstone will remain with the company as chairman of the board.
