Deposition Sciences Wins Orders for IsoSphere Ball Lenses
Sep 2000
CLEVELAND, Sept. 13 -- Deposition Sciences Inc., an advanced thin-film coating company in Santa Rosa, Calif., and a subsidiary of Advanced Lighting Technologies Inc., has received $.6 million worth of orders for its IsoSphere Ball Lenses. Lucent Technologies Microelectronics Group placed the orders.
DSI's micro-optic products such as the IsoSphere Ball Lenses can be used where it is necessary to collect light leaving a fiber optic, or to focus light into a fiber optic, said Don Rogers, manager of Deposition Science's Telecommunications Group. We believe that these orders from Lucent demonstrate the acceptance of the IsoSphere product and applications. Growing demand for these products from other telecommunications customers support this view.
The Ball Lenses are part of Deposition Sciences' line of collimating micro-optics, and are made by using the company's IsoDyn low-pressure chemical vapor deposition process. They are available in both the 1310 and 1550 nm band and can be used with pump lasers at 980 and 1480 nm, as well as with expanded beam devices.
