DigiLens, DuPont Holographics Join Forces on Microdisplays

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 12 -- DigiLens will partner with Wilmington, Del.-based DuPont Holographics to market the two companies' complementary holographic optical technologies. In the first joint effort under the new partnership, DigiLens will focus on the emerging handheld-PC and wearable display markets by combining DuPont's holographic optical elements with DigiLens' application-specific integrated lens.
The two companies will work together to promote the use of their respective technologies in conjunction with microdisplays to project a high-definition television or computer screen to the human eye. When combined with magnifying and illuminating optics, microdisplays -- arrays of tiny pixel-sized mirrors on a microchip -- can be configured into various small, lightweight and inexpensive digital displays for computers, television, and the Internet. The companies expect portable computers and wireless handheld Internet devices to be among the first applications to benefit from the combination of technologies.
